CHANDIGARH: Local lad Yuvraj Singh finally got a chance to make his Test debut as his place in the final playing eleven was confirmed by Syed Kirmani, the chairman of selectors, at Hotel Mountview, on Wednesday.
Kirmani said that Yuvraj would replace captain Sourav Ganguly who has opted out following an operation for removal of an abcess on Tuesday.
The rest of the team is unchanged.
Aakash Chopra and Virendra Sehwag will open the innings followed by Dravid, Sachin, Laxman, Yuvraj, Parthiv Patel, Harbhajan, Zaheer, Kumble and Balaji. The selectors decided to go in with the same combination of four bowlers in the match.
Agarkar''s name was also being propped up but he failed to get a place in the team.
This is a lucky break for Yuvraj who has made a name for himself in the limited overs version of the game but could not find a place in the Test side for a long time. Yuvraj being the local hero, his inclusion in the team is likely to bring his admirers to the stadium in large numbers.
